Shipping & Cargo Policy

Global freight guidelines, dangerous goods policies, and claims management

1. Transit Windows & Estimated Delivery Times

Estimated delivery windows are calculated based on vessel departure schedules, flight availability, and port congestion factors. Express Air Cargo typical transit duration is 2-5 business days, while Ocean Freight FCL/LCL ranges between 14-28 business days depending on trade lane origin and destination.

2. Prohibited & Restricted Cargo (HAZMAT)

SmartCargo strictly adheres to ICAO/IATA dangerous goods regulations and IMO Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) codes. Prohibited items without prior authorization include explosive materials, toxic chemicals, unauthorized contraband, and unlicensed hazardous goods.

3. Customs Inspection & Clearance Permits

Shipments held by destination border authorities for mandatory customs inspection or permit verification will show an "On Hold / Permit Required" status in our tracking portal. Our dedicated customs brokerage team will contact the consignee to facilitate clearance.

4. Cargo Insurance & Claims Process

All shipments automatically include basic carrier liability. For high-value commodities, full value marine cargo insurance is available. In the event of physical damage during transit, claim notifications must be submitted within 7 business days of cargo receipt along with photo evidence.
