Frequently Asked Questions

Instant answers from SmartCargo regarding freight bookings, tracking telematics, customs clearance, insurance, and pricing.

Tracking

3 Q&A
Simply enter your unique tracking number into our Track & Trace portal on the home page or tracking page. Our satellite telematics engine will instantly display your cargo's location, transit stage, and estimated delivery window.
Live GPS telematics pings every 2–5 minutes for overland haulage, and every port/terminal scan event for ocean and air freight. You receive automated milestone notifications via email or SMS if enabled.
Please allow up to 12 hours after booking confirmation for your tracking number to activate in our system. If the issue persists, contact our 24/7 dispatch desk with your booking reference.

Services

3 Q&A
Air Freight is engineered for high-priority or urgent cargo (typically 2–5 days transit), whereas Ocean Freight is best suited for bulk goods, FCL/LCL container loads, and cost-sensitive international shipping (14–28 days transit).
Yes. Our Special Freight division manages oversized machinery, project cargo, and dangerous goods (HAZMAT) in full compliance with ICAO, IATA, and IMDG regulations. Custom quotes are provided based on cargo classification.
Absolutely. We offer integrated door-to-door service combining first-mile pickup, primary transit (air/ocean/road), customs clearance, and final-mile delivery — all under one tracking number and one invoice.

Customs

3 Q&A
Our in-house licensed customs brokerage team handles entry filings, HS tariff classifications, duty calculations, and permit approvals directly with destination port authorities to minimize border hold times.
Standard requirements include a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading (ocean) or airway bill (air), certificate of origin, and any product-specific permits. Our team guides you through destination-specific requirements.
Hazardous materials, unlicensed explosives, toxic chemicals, narcotics, counterfeit goods, and unauthorized contraband are strictly prohibited under ICAO/IATA and IMDG codes. Restricted items require special permits.

Insurance & Pricing

3 Q&A
Yes. All shipments include standard carrier liability coverage. For high-value commodities, full-value marine and aviation transit insurance is available upon request at competitive rates.
Rates depend on chargeable weight (greater of actual vs volumetric), transit mode, origin/destination pair, cargo classification, and any special handling. Use our instant quote tool or speak with a specialist for complex shipments.
No. All quotes are transparent and include the charges we control. Third-party fees (customs duty, port surcharges, demurrage at destination) are itemized separately where applicable.
